Elcomsoft Explorer for WhatsApp 2.25 Improves iCloud Two-Factor Authentication Support
ElcomSoft Co. Ltd. updates Elcomsoft eXplorer for WhatsApp, the company's all-in-one tool for extracting, decrypting and analyzing WhatsApp communication histories. Elcomsoft Explorer for WhatsApp 2.25 is updated to improve two-factor authentication support when downloading WhatsApp backups from Apple iCloud. Version 2.25 is now able to discretely detect the presence of two-factor authentication in user accounts without triggering a push notification on users' devices. This feature gives forensic experts the choice of whether they want to proceed with cloud acquisition without alerting the suspect. Additionaly, this release improves the speed and reliability of iCloud downloads and delivers a number of smaller bug fixed and performance enhancements.
Version 2.25 fixes token-based logins for accounts with two-factor authentication, making use of Apple's new, longer tokens.
In addition, Elcomsoft Explorer for WhatsApp 2.25 comes with the usual improvements in the speed and reliability of iCloud downloads, and delivers a number of bug fixed and performance enhancements.
At this time, Elcomsoft Explorer for WhatsApp 2.25 supports all of the following WhatsApp acquisition methods:
1. Extracting and decrypting WhatsApp stand-alone backups from iCloud Drive
2. Extracting WhatsApp data from iOS system backups (iTunes)
3. Downloading and extracting WhatsApp data from iOS cloud backups (iCloud)
4. Extracting WhatsApp databases from rooted Android devices (all versions of Android; root access required)
5. Producing and extracting WhatsApp backups on pre-Android 7 devices without root access
The update is free of charge to all customers who purchased or renewed their Elcomsoft Explorer for WhatsApp or Elcomsoft Mobile Forensic Bundle license within one year. Discounted renewal is available to customers whose maintenance plan has already expired.
