LTL Deliveries to Tundra
Ingstad possesses an advanced technology of LTL transportation from Europe to Russia, which helps SLS be competitive in the market.
A big amount of projects was realized in the course of cooperation between the two companies. The turbine transportation in the specific cargo container after the maintenance in Holland was one of them. The cargo was to be delivered from Europe to Arctic Circle, Yamal via Moscow.
«The delivery was rather difficult to arrange,” Eugene Apasov, Director of Smart Logistic Solutions comments. “There was very limited time as the cargo had to be transported along the itinerary running through the frozen river and marshy tundra, otherwise, the next opportunity could appear only with the following frosts.”
Ingstad arranged the transport in Europe, loading with the help of elevating equipment, customs clearance in EU and delivery to Russia. SLS was in charge of the transportation on the territory of the Russian Federation, customs clearance at the border with Russia, delivery to Saint Petersburg where the container reloading into the truck going to the North was fulfilled.
«As ill luck would have it the carriers’ truck broke down leaving Moscow on Friday night,” Eugene Apasov tells. “SLS together with the Belorussian transport operator took care about the truck maintenance during week-end and delivered the turbine on Tuesday morning to Saint-Petersburg for further delivery to the North.”
The company specialists reloaded the cargo into the special truck of the client, having taken the truck roof to pieces. The transportation was realized on the schedule.
The client was satisfied by the ACEX alliance members’ work after what they received more orders from the company.
This case illustrates a “scheduled act of bravery” as it happens often in business.
