Logistics Services Outsourcing is a Key Industry Trend. ACEX at the Russian Retail Week
Panel session with the participation of logistics operators was held for the first time at RRW. Members of ACEX board of directors Andrey Andreev and Miroslav Zolotarev shared their views on the role of logistics companies in the supply chain from producer to retailer.
The Board Director of ACEX noted that the participation of representatives of logistics companies in such events indicates the beginning of an open dialogue between retailers, producers and logistics operators. The logistics companies seek to optimize business processes of manufacturers and retailers, and not only get service contracts.
"This is the first step towards the development of outsourcing of logistics services,- Miroslav Zolotarev said. - The level of outsourcing of logistics in Russia should go from 20-30% to 65-70% similar to the markets of developed countries in Europe, the US and Japan. ACEX was involved into this issue since its foundation, for the first time the topic was discussed at the Eurasian Logistic Conference at the CCI of Russia in 2015. Unfortunately, the market of professional logistics services in Russia is still weak and unripe, but the participation of logistics operators in the event for the largest companies of the retail industry in Russia indicates the beginning of rapprochement."
The main topics of the event were connected with the digitization of logistics and supply chains in retail, cooperation, partnership, collaboration, joint projects and initiatives of retailers, manufacturers, suppliers and other participants in supply chains.
Vasily Demin, Deputy Director of the Coordination Council for Logistics, ACEX Alliance partner, dedicated his report to digitalization and automation in supply chains. He noted that automation reduces errors and reduces unproductive operations. Nevertheless, the main resource is still a person, his involvement in the process and the level of training.
240 delegates took part in the Forum, among them were the logistics and supply chain directors of the largest manufacturers and retailers in Russia.
