ACEX Estonia transported the absorber column for oil industry weighing 100 tons 3 nights in a row.
ACEX Estonia regular customer - one of the largest petrochemical companies of Europe, the leader of a line production of synthetic rubbers and plastics in Russia.
The company received the request for absorber column transportation from a production site to St. Petersburg via port of Paldiski in August.
Considering column dimensions: 38,3 meters long, 5,5 meters wide, 5,2 meters high and the weight of 110 tons, the road transportation of such a freight is possible only at night between 10 pm and 6 am.
“The shipping deadline was strict- by September 15, 2016 as this was the letter of credit closing date,” Alexander Kovalev, ACEX Estonia manager comments. “Still, the Consignee responsible for the sea freight could not choose the vessel type and consequently we could not plan the loading process. A 300 – ton crane lease was arranged for the column loading. Road transportation was accomplished in the nighttime as the column blocked two strips on the road because of its width and it was necessary to take to pieces all the road signs and other constructions preventing the cargo journey. The difficulties in Tallinn highway junction where the electricity transmission lines detained the truck traffic.”
Transportation to the port of Paldiski took 3 nights. Having arrived to the port the specialists fixed the accessory mounting for the column base according to the producers’ scheme. The truck reloading and loading to the ship took about 5 hours and on September 16 morning the cargo arrived to the port of Saint Petersburg.
The project appeared to be a valuable experienced of oversized cargo transportation.
